Rainbow was created to help children cope with feelings of loneliness and sadness.
It's an interactive storytelling experience that uses sound, movement, lights, and color to assess a child's mood while narrating unique stories. The goal is to provide an experience that not only entertains but also uplifts the child, leaving them feeling happier and more energized by the story's end.
The idea is for Rainbow to be available as an app on tablets and smartphones, with smartphones offering an informative dashboard for parents and a story library.
Additionally, it will integrate with smart ceilings for a more immersive experience and support voice assistants, allowing children to listen to stories anytime without opening the app.
Modern life presents a variety of challenges that impact both children and parents, affecting emotional well-being and family dynamics. For children, the abundance of emotional stimuli in their surroundings—whether at school, home, or even on the street—can lead to emotional instability. At the same time, the lack of time and energy from parents, often absorbed by daily responsibilities, can hinder their children's cognitive development, leaving them feeling bored or disconnected.
This project seeks to address and resolve these central challenges, creating a solution that supports both children and parents in navigating the pressures of modern life.
Using Artificial Intelligence, it's possible to detect signs of emotional instability by analyzing behavior patterns, language, and facial expressions. Once identified, the AI can provide personalized interactions, offering interactive challenges aimed at improving the child's mood.
Additionally, it can support cognitive development by delivering engaging entertainment, interactive stories, or activities that capture the child's attention, offering distraction and filling the gap left by limited parental availability.
An in-depth study was conducted on the use of technology and Artificial Intelligence in our daily lives, with a particular focus on children and potential concerns of their caregivers. The role of colors, movement, and their influence on children's emotional states was also a key area of investigation.
Rainbow's Design System features a vibrant color palette, smooth shapes, and the clean, approachable Poppins typeface to ensure simplicity and accessibility in every interaction.
The characters, lovingly brought to life using AI, add a playful and personal touch. Each one has its own unique personality, making the experience even more engaging and relatable for children. Together, these design elements work seamlessly to support Rainbow's mission of bringing comfort, happiness, and connection to kids, one story at a time.
Participants found the app intuitive and reported high satisfaction. Tasks were completed quickly, with a low "Mission Unfinished" rate.
Task execution was generally easy, though the action "Visit the 'Edit Profiles' area and then return directly to the Library" had a significantly lower "Direct Success" rate. This indicates difficulties with this specific task, further confirmed by a high "Misclick Rate," highlighting an area for improvement in future revisions.
